Mentors Needed for Young Adult Friends!

26 Young Adult Friends have signed up to be mentored through NYYM's mentoring program and they are actively searching for mentors to walk alongside them over the next eight months. There is no prescribed formula for a good mentor, and they are seeking people of diverse experiences, perspectives, backgrounds, and personalities. Indeed, a mentor that is perfect for one person may not be what another person needs. Somebody might just need YOU or somebody that you know. Please help us spread the word!!!

They do not expect people to come with experience or knowledge about being a good mentor and they will provide training and continuous support throughout the entire program. The primary goal is to be able to lovingly and faithfully match kindred spirits for a mutually-enriching experience. And it is a blessing to do so.

Access the full information packet at https://bit.ly/nyymmentoring2021 and sign up at https://bit.ly/nyymmentoringinterest2021. The deadline to sign up is November 30!

Dear Friends,
NYYM is thrilled to officially open up registration for prospective mentors for its mentoring program for young adults. We currently have 25 seekers registered who are looking for a partner on their spiritual journey. The deadline for mentors to sign up is Tuesday, November 30.

Please share this information with your members and attenders, and if you yourself are interested, please sign up today! Access the full information packet at https://bit.ly/nyymmentoring2021 and sign up at https://bit.ly/nyymmentoringinterest2021

Indeed, a mentor that is perfect for one person may not be what another person needs. We do not expect people to come with us with experience or knowledge about being a good mentor and will provide training and continuous support! Who do you know who may possess some (and certainly not all) of the following characteristics and qualities?

Approachable
Aware of personal privilege and bias

Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Committed to positive growth
Connection maker
Conscious of confidentiality
Consistent
Creative and playful
Curious
Empathetic
Flexible
Good listener
Great at asking questions
Humility
Kind and supportive
Knowledgeable about Quaker faith and practice

Loving and compassionate
Mindful of the third way
Nonjudgmental, seek to understand
On their own spiritual path
Open to experimentation
Open to feedback
Open to proposing perspectives rather than imposing them

Open-minded
Patience
Resourceful and willing to share resources

Please note that not all prospective mentors who sign up will receive a match, as there are a finite number of seekers and each is looking for a mentor who can support them in specific ways. Not being matched is not a judgment about whether a person would make a good mentor and many mentors who are not matched initially might be matched in a future year!

Let me know if you have any questions!!
