Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business CANCELLED for 5/23, Moved to June 13

clerk@ithacamonthlymeeting.org

Friends,

Though we had initially planned a May-June Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business THIS Sunday, 5/23, it has become increasingly apparent that we will not have either the energy or the agenda to make our time together fruitful this weekend. A combination of digital malaise and a desire to be out in the world - in the garden, seeing friends, visiting family - seems to be the state of many in our Meeting at the moment. We have no shortage of things to consider and conversations to start, but my impression is that our condition this weekend does not lend itself to any of this.

Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business will shift back to our more usual 2nd Sunday in June, 6/13 at 12:30pm. I am hoping this delay will give committees who are actively working on reports more time, and give people an opportunity to trade in the digital realm for the analog one this weekend. I hope this extra time will help lay the groundwork for a more successful meeting in 3 weeks.

Be well, Friends... and get out and enjoy the weather.

Gina

Memorial Meeting for Worship for Chuck Moehler

Melissa Travis Dunham

Friends,

The Memorial Meeting for Worship for Chuck will be Saturday, June 5 2021, sometime in the afternoon, at the Hector Meetinghouse. We're still finalizing plans and will share more as things are finalized. Please note, this date is different from the one shared in the May newsletter.

Unfortunately, Covid restrictions and the continued need for social distancing means attendance at this memorial will need to be limited. There will be an RSVP method of some sort that we will share with Friends.

Antonia Saxon worked with Chuck's family to craft a beautiful obituary, which you can read online at the Ithaca Cremation website.

If you have questions about the Memorial Meeting for Worship, please contact me or Emily Williams.

QuakerSpeak tomorrow morning @ 9:30

Carol Clarke

Hello Friends,
There will be QuakerSpeak gathering  tomorrow morning at 9:30 in the Meetinghouse as well as on Zoom.  This is the first of our new series:  Focus on Worship.

If you would like to attend Meeting for Worship in person and also QuakerSpeak, please come to the Meetinghouse at 9:30 tomorrow morning.

Here is the zoom link.  If there is any problem with this link, I will send out a different link tomorrow morning.  This is the usual link.   The only reason there would be a problem is because of the Spring Gathering taking place this week and I don't think there will be any conflict.

Pastoral Care Draft Proposal for Feedback

Cai Quirk

Friends,
In January many of us gathered to talk about pastoral care in the meeting, and what that might look like. Nominating Committee has been holding the wonderful feedback everyone gave and has now come up with a draft proposal. We are sharing this with Friends for initial feedback and considerations that we may have missed -- feel free to comment on the document itself (directions on Google Drive commenting are in the document) or reply to me with feedback. This will come to a meeting for worship with attention to business, but sharing it here first gives us the chance to hear any major concerns ahead of time and possibly make revisions before bringing it forward.
Thanks!

Sunday worship at Hector: TIME CHANGE

Tommy Brown

Dear Friends:

Starting Sunday, May 9, and going through the summer, Meeting for Worship at the Hector Meetinghouse will start at 10:30 AM.  The weather will still be cool Sunday so worship will be indoors, but we look forward to warmer days when we can be outside.  Updates on this will be posted weekly.

Tom

Sunday Morning Greeters... we need volunteers!

Cai Quirk

IMM is looking for greeters for Sunday Meetings for Worship at the Third Street Meeting House. Greeters would be there at 10:15 am and read a COVID welcoming script. They would answer questions, welcome people to the Meeting and explain our procedures for entering and leaving the Meeting House. A core group of Friends is needed. Please contact Bronwyn (cc'ed above) if you are led to join or have any questions!

Quaker Lunch on May 6 at 12 noon

Liam Murphy

There will be fellowship over lunch for Quaker men and those who don’t mind talking with them TODAY (Thursday) at noon. The link is in the Meeting calendar.  I generally have not been sending out reminders …

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend because of the needs of my office … but others should feel free to attend!

For folks who are interested in such gatherings, I’d be interested in hearing from people who have attended or would like to attend about whether we should be changing the time … all suggestions welcome!

Best, Liam

COMBINED May-June Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business MAY 23

clerk@ithacamonthlymeeting.org

To keep us all on our toes (and to avoid some conflicting events), there will be NO Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business on the 2nd Sundays in May (May 9) or June (June 13). Instead, we will have a combined Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business on Sunday, May 23 at 12:30pm via Zoom.

If your committee has business brewing for this Mune (or Jay, if you'd rather) Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business that you think may not be on my radar, please send me an email and let me know so that I can plan.

Thanks!
